Dockerizing ASP.NET 5 Applications webinar with Anthony Sneed

ASP.NET 5 is Microsoft’s next-generation platform for developing cloud-friendly, cross-platform web applications and services. It was re-written from the ground up to provide the level of isolation and scalability required by modern, cloud-based applications, and it can run on non-Microsoft platforms, such as Mac OS X and Linux. Docker automates the deployment of applications inside software containers, which provide an isolated unit of deployment without the overhead of virtual machines. In this webinar, Tony explains how you can “dockerize” an ASP.NET 5 application in order to implement a microservices architecture, with small, highly decoupled services that are composable, resilient and can be scaled independently.

Docker Fundamentals course

Docker allows you to package an application with all of its dependencies into a standardized unit for software development. Docker is an open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship and run distributed applications, whether on laptops, data center VMs or the cloud. The 2-day Docker Fundamentals course takes attendees through installing, integrating and running Docker in their working environment. This course also covers the foundations of the Docker platform, including an overview of the platform components, images, containers and repositories. Attendees learn how to administer, create, configure and deploy Docker containers. As a developer, administrator, quality engineer or IT manager, you will find this course invaluable. With Docker, IT organizations shrink application delivery from months to minutes. Course highlights: • Installing the Docker Engine • Creating our first Docker container • Building Docker images • Storing and retrieving Docker images from Docker Hub • Building containers from images • Using Docker for sandboxing and testing • Deploying applications with Docker • Docker Compose • Docker Cloud

One of the best software leaders we are privileged to know.

Jeremy Likness is an experienced entrepreneur and technology executive who has successfully helped ship commercial enterprise software for 20 years. He specializes in catalyzing growth, developing ideas and creating value through delivering software in technical enterprises. His roles as business owner, technology executive and hands-on developer provided unique opportunities to directly impact the bottom line of multiple businesses by helping them grow and increase their organizational capacity while improving operational efficiency. He has worked with several initially small companies like Manhattan Associates and AirWatch before they grew large and experienced their transition from good to great while helping direct vision and strategy to embrace changing technology and markets. Jeremy is capable of quickly adapting to new paradigms and helps technology teams endure change by providing strong leadership, working with team members “in the trenches” and mentoring them in the soft skills that are key for engineers to bridge the gap between business and technology
